THE LEGACY OF TIGERS

Preserving Asia's greatest treasures for generations to come.

Our Sacred Duty

We are dedicated to the survival of Asia's big cats and their habitats. Through a holistic approach that combines scientific research, community partnership, and unwavering vigilance, we are turning the tide against extinction and restoring the delicate balance of Asia's wild heartlands.

Our Mission

The Asiatic Big Cat Society is dedicated to conserving and celebrating Asia’s majestic big cats through research, advocacy, and community engagement. Our mission is to support and expand conservation efforts for tigers, lions, leopards, and cheetahs in India by enabling and aiding action on the ground.

Our Core Pillars

Habitat Protection

We go beyond just safeguarding areas; we actively restore degraded forests and secure vital wildlife corridors. This ensures big cats have ample space to roam, hunt, and breed, reducing territorial conflicts and creating a genetically diverse, resilient population for the future.

Community Empowerment

True conservation involves the people who share the land with big cats. We provide sustainable livelihood training and resources, turning local communities into the foremost protectors of their natural heritage and fostering a peaceful coexistence between humans and wildlife.

Anti-Poaching Patrols

Our highly trained anti-poaching units conduct vigilant patrols, utilizing both traditional tracking skills and modern technology. By dismantling snares and collaborating with law enforcement, we create a formidable shield against those who threaten these magnificent animals.

Research & Technology

We employ cutting-edge science, from GPS collars and camera traps to DNA analysis, to monitor big cat populations. This data-driven approach allows us to make informed decisions, adapt our strategies, and effectively measure our impact on conservation.

Our Story, Our Commitment

Asiatic Big Cats (ABC)

Asiatic Big Cat Society is an NGO dedicated to conserving and celebrating Asia’s iconic big cats – tigers, leopards, lions, and cheetahs. We believe that conservation is not just about protecting animals, it’s about protecting the delicate balance that keeps our forests, grasslands, and communities thriving. Our goal is to give big cats and their ecosystems a fighting chance through smart, compassionate, and collaborative conservation.

Our Core Focus

Habitat Loss

We address the threat of habitat loss due to expanding human settlements, working to secure and restore vital ecosystems.

Man-Animal Conflict

As tiger populations grow in isolated pockets, we focus on mitigating conflict to ensure peaceful coexistence.

Grassland Neglect

We champion the restoration of often-misunderstood grasslands, which are critical for many species' survival.

Our Current Initiatives

Restoring Grasslands in Tadoba

We are working closely with the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve to restore and expand its grasslands. This includes bringing back high-protein grasses like Napier, which provide year-round nourishment for herbivores. A healthy prey base means a stable, thriving ecosystem for tigers and other predators.

Securing Wildlife Corridors

We are collaborating with NGOs and forest departments on building and securing wildlife corridors. These corridors are essential in allowing big cats to move between territories. They reduce inbreeding, lower conflict with humans, and help distribute growing tiger populations across safer landscapes.

Guided by Experts

Our strength lies in the expertise guiding us. Our advisory board includes retired Chief Wildlife Wardens, IFS and IPS officers, and scientists with decades of field experience. Their knowledge in handling habitat restoration, conflict resolution, and long-term planning helps ensure that our work is both scientifically sound and practically grounded. We firmly believe that the rise in tiger numbers should be seen as a conservation success, but it also demands responsible management.

Our Initiatives and Programmes for Awareness

Walk for Tiger- Tiger Awareness Rally

Join us as we take to the streets to raise our voices for those who cannot. The 'Walk for Tiger' is more than just a rally; it's a powerful public statement about our collective commitment to tiger conservation. This annual event brings together students, families, activists, and community leaders in a vibrant procession designed to capture widespread public attention and media coverage. Participants march with colorful banners and chant slogans, creating a wave of awareness that flows through the city. Our goal is to educate the public about the urgent threats facing tigers, from habitat loss to poaching, and to inspire a city-wide movement dedicated to protecting our national animal's future.

Awareness drives for conservation and protection of Tiger at Schools and other forums.

The future of conservation lies in the hands of the next generation. Our awareness drives in schools, colleges, and public forums are designed to educate and inspire young minds across the nation. Through interactive presentations, powerful documentaries, and engaging discussions with wildlife experts, we break down complex conservation issues into understandable and relatable content. We aim to instill a deep sense of responsibility and empathy, empowering students to become lifelong advocates for wildlife. By highlighting the critical role tigers play in maintaining a healthy planet, we encourage them to take active roles in conservation, from simple actions at home to pursuing careers that protect our natural world.

Quiz, face Painting and Poster Making competition

Creativity is a powerful tool for conservation, and we harness it through various engaging competitions that make learning about tigers both fun and memorable. Our quiz competitions challenge participants' knowledge on biodiversity and spark curiosity about the animal kingdom. Meanwhile, face painting allows children to express their love for these magnificent animals in a vibrant, colorful way, transforming them into little tiger ambassadors for a day. The poster-making contests encourage participants of all ages to translate their passion for conservation into compelling visual art. These events not only educate but also create a vibrant, community-focused atmosphere that celebrates the tiger and reinforces the importance of its protection.

Talks on Man Animal Conflicts

As human and tiger habitats increasingly overlap, conflict becomes inevitable. Our expert-led talks address this sensitive and critical issue head-on. We facilitate open, constructive discussions with communities living in and around tiger corridors, bringing together villagers, forest officials, and conservationists to the same table. The primary goal is to foster mutual understanding and collaboratively develop practical, non-lethal solutions that protect both human lives and livestock, as well as the tigers themselves. By promoting empathy, sharing proven mitigation strategies like predator-proof enclosures and early warning systems, and exploring sustainable livelihood options, we work tirelessly to transform potential conflict into a peaceful and sustainable coexistence for all.

Briefing on Conservation techniques by Wildlife Experts.

Knowledge is our most powerful tool in the fight to save big cats. We regularly host detailed briefings and hands-on workshops led by renowned wildlife experts, field biologists, and veteran conservationists. These immersive sessions provide invaluable insights into the latest scientific techniques used in modern conservation. Participants learn about the intricacies of camera trapping for population monitoring, the data gathered from radio collaring, and how DNA analysis helps us understand genetic diversity and combat poaching. By sharing this cutting-edge knowledge of habitat mapping and anti-poaching technology with forest staff, students, and the public, we aim to build a well-informed community of advocates who can effectively support these critical efforts.
